Pork is a delicious, healthy alternative to meat and chicken, and it is incredibly versatile. There are so many different flavors that go with pork chops, that they are always great new recipes to try. There are also many ways that you can cook pork chop, with the most common being pan fried, baked, bbq’d, or on an electric grill. Here are some tips on how to make your pork chops turn out great no matter how you prepare them. There is no BEST cooking method when it comes to pork chops…it all depends on what you are trying to do with them.
Pan Fried
Heat some olive oil in a non-stick or cast iron frying pan, on medium high heat. Once oil is heated, add pork chops. Cook for one minute, flip, and cook for one more minute. Reduce heat, and continue cooking until finished. This method works great if you like a somewhat crispy outside, so is particularly good if you are not going to be adding a sauce. It is a really good method for plain pork chops or ones that are only lightly seasoned.
Oven Baked
Preheat oven to 350F. Once the oven is heated, add the pork chops and bake until finished. This is not a great method if you are eating plain pork chops, but is the perfect method is you decide to use a sauce or a thick marinade. Not good in the summer.
BBQ
Preheat BBQ to high. Once heated, brush some cooking oil over the grill. Add pork chops, and sear the first side. After one minute, flip and turn the heat down to medium. Continue cooking on this side until finished. This will ensure the juices stay inside. This is a great method for plain pork chop, or ones that are lightly seasoned. Obviously, if you want to add a sauce, it needs to be added after the pork chops have been cooked on the BBQ.
Electric Grill
A quick and easy option. Turn on the grill. Once heated, add pork chop. Close the grill, and cook until finished. Works best with plain pork chops, to be seasoned afterwards.
